I just got back from a week-long trip to Ft. Bragg with the Army. Really, it was to get more exposure to being an ALO. The facilities remained somewhat the same from my trip to Ft. Campbell about a month ago. I got to see the Army in action, and it’s impressive, especially for an Air Force guy. I’m definitely not used to anything ground-related. Most of my time, like any ALO, was spent in the Command Post with the main job of controlling and coordinating Air Force aircraft for the fight. It’s too bad all the air fell out. That left me with a whole lot of nothing to do with my job, so I helped out elsewhere. Above is one of the training events. Before they dropped down for the static-line pass, they were at 10,000 ft for a HALO pass. It definitely brought back memories from my 3-year tenure on the Wings of Blue (the Air Force Jump Team). One TDY down; many, many more to go until the summer’s end…
