After a 2 month long battle to start up Jump School where I left off, it’s all for naught. Technically, I need 1 jump, just one exit from the aircraft, and I could pick up with Jump Week without repeating the first 2 weeks. With a lot of help I worked deal after deal to get it that way, using the reasoning that I’m not an idiot and I have prior jump experience. It worked for the most part: Originally my leg was supposed to take a week to heal. It didn’t, so I got the deal extended for two more weeks, when it was supposed to heal. It still didn’t; in fact, in that time they had found that I’d actually cracked the bone. So I managed to even get it extended until the first class of 2007… for sure it’d be healed by then. NOPE… So I called the powers that be to see if I could keep pushing the deal. Not so easy this time. So now I’m presented with this yet again:
Yep, I have to do the whole school over again once the leg heals fully and I have time to recondition. The good: at least now I know what to expect. The bad: it is still 2-3 hours a day standing around to stand around, and we get a whole week on learning PLFs, then another whole week on exiting… it’s mind numbing to say the least. On the bright side, I’m still here in Savannah and I still have the job I was fragged for. Unfortunately, I have to face Jump School again in about 2-3 months. At least I have time to mentally prepare for it.
